Google is teaching robots to think for themselves
They arrive here full of, I suppose you’d call it knowledge. They’re skilful, very intelligent. They can hit the ground running when it comes to the tasks they’re here for but there’s something missing – soft skills some call it. I prefer the word “understanding”. There are subtleties to working here, cultures to grasp, ways of saying things that, well no matter how much intelligence you have, you can’t just get. That’s my job. It’s called training but I see it more as ‘educating’. I get them after they’re unpacked and I teach them. They’ll learn, just like I did.
