She cradled the box in her arms. The receptionist wished her well as the doors closed behind her. There wasn’t much in the box. Just the stuff you amass at work. Coffee mug. Stationary – the company still loved analog. That guru’s book they gave to all new starters. Analog again. There were other people walking out with their boxes. They exchanged glances. They all knew they wouldn’t see inside the building again; ride the glass elevator; walk through the chill zone. The interview had gone well though, obviously. She’d got the job. Now back home to the new office.
