Strangely, an election campaign is not our busiest time. The politicians are all off kissing babies and avoiding questions and the officials are all taking time off. Purdah. That doesn’t mean we’re taking time off. There are always relationships to keep going. That’s what we do really. Without those relationships we can’t offer our ‘thoughts’ on the questions of the day, help politicians and their teams make the right decisions. It’s only when we are a trusted voice can we do our job. My job is to be there for the powerful. 24/7. A lobbyist is always on, after all.
