It had been a dream since, well she couldn’t remember. Her parents told her that she’d played the role even before she knew the word “model”. She knew the critiques: she had feminist friends who talked about “objectification” and even “selling out”. She didn’t fall out with them but she stood her ground. It was her choice, she was driving the agenda, using her position and voice. “Take today’s job,” she said. “Yes I’m in the spotlight, I’m on stage. They’re looking at me. I’m a token but a key one. They want a Gen Z. I can be that.”
