They sometimes wished The Caretaker looked… well now human. They had an image of him (they were sure it was a him). He wore overalls with a hankie in the back pocket; he had glasses and of course he was old. Like really old. They imagined he’d been cleaning the corridors, fixing the heating, opening the rooms for years. He had of course. He’d started work – they sometimes imagined the interview – when there parents were in the school. He wasn’t humanoid. He was a much more efficient shape. But they still loved sitting in his office listening to his stories.
