Ironically they’d considered giving the job to an AI. There were the usual justifications: cost, capacity and limitless knowledge about the issues. Thankfully somebody had spotted the potential optics and the board had decided to add another human to the C-suite. That made the balance 5 to 3 now. It wasn’t just about having a human face reassuring clients and making statements to the feeds. After all many of those conversations would be with AIs who didn’t care whether the spokesperson was human. It was more that there was something about “Trust in AI” that demanded a human speculation perspective.
