The elevator pitch had probably been “Dragons’ Den meets Hunger Games”. The crowd of humans was hyped up and the lighting whirled around the arena. The Judge was raised above the pit on a throne; silent, exuding power. The contestants waited in a giant glass cell, the crowd bayed above them. Each contestant practiced their routines, fine-tuned the personality they’d project for The Judge. Their humans literally polished the purely cosmetic cases in which they ran, oblivious to the Agent’s decisions. But one human sat quietly, no hardware, just an idea. Her idea. The Judge’s software roared. The game began.
