It was known as “The Fitting”. Like getting a suit, the story went, you could buy off-the-peg. It would fit, if you were a standard size. It might even be smart, but it was only when you went bespoke that you could tell the difference. Made-to-measure, crafted for you. You couldn’t go back. The Agency continued the analogy with the process. Clients came in for a “fitting”. There were “tailors”, even some human ones. They “measured” the business. They “crafted” the product. The clients enjoyed the ritual. They left with a badge of status. Of course they were only renting the Agent.
